President Trump is playing a very dangerous game with his provocative statements against North Korea. There is no doubt a threat exits, but his reckless statements do nothing in resolving that crisis. At the same time, concerns about his ability to act presidential and his leadership and communication skills, as well as his questionable relationship with Russia and other financial dealings, are threatening his presidency.

What to do? Trump is a master of diverting attention. Why not ratchet up a real present threat and scare everyone silly with the prospect of nuclear war? To give perspective, President Nixon did the same thing. At the height of Watergate, Nixon issued a nuclear alert. His excuse was the war in the Middle East. It did not ultimately work for him. It will not ultimately work for Trump either, assuming we’re all still around.
