Bredefeld’s stuck on God, guns, grass

I am so confused by Fresno City Councilman Garry Bredefield. I was just getting used to the “In God We Trust” policy statement, which was the perfect backup excuse when things didn’t get done. Now it turns out he wants employees to carry concealed weapons at work. So which is it, do we trust in God or guns?

My personal choice for the council chamber sign was an old bar favorite: “In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash” but that would have ruffled the feathers of local developers and money men. And this is a business-friendly administration.

So does anyone want to confront a City Hall civil servant who is carrying a loaded weapon? Maybe the point you’re trying to make about an unwarranted fee isn’t worth pushing a stressed city employee over the edge. As urban philosopher Ludacris says, “I’m having a bad day, don’t make me take it out on you!”

I suggest Bredefield stay away from God, guns and grass and focus instead on real Fresno issues like potholes, housing and downtown revitalization.
