How do I tell my students to respect such a ‘despicable’ president?

I have been an elementary school teacher for 28 years. I have always taught my students to respect the president of the United States even if this person was not your family’s choice.

How do I teach my students to respect the leader of our country when he shows disrespect toward everyone and everything, past and present?

From mimicking a disabled person to getting thousands of Boy Scouts to boo our former president (just to name a few) goes against what I have always tried to instill in our future leaders. Despicable.
