Nunes promotes GOP spin over facts

The shooting of Rep. Steve Scalise and others was the horrific act of a disturbed individual. No rational American, regardless of political affiliation, can condone such violence.

So why is Congressman Devin Nunes using this tragic event as an opportunity to bash the Democratic Party? The shooter was a Bernie Sanders supporter. Yet, I challenge Nunes to come up with even a single instance of Sanders advocating violence against anyone! I was not a Sanders supporter, but I know a peace-loving individual when I see one.

Nunes is quoted in a recent Bee article as saying fake news and statements from his Democratic colleagues have continued to incite protests and threats against those in public office: “This level of civil discourse – I’ve never seen anything like it.” Well, I would have to agree with him on that last point.

But consider our current president, who is supposed to be a shining example of unity, compassion, and civility. No one should have trouble coming up with campaign trail footage of Donald Trump advocating violence against those who disagree with him. The shameful reality is that Nunes knows this, but is willing to promote party spin over facts.
