Trump’s tall tales. Do you see a childish pattern here?

President Trump meets with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and other members of the Russian delegation, including their ambassador, Sergey Kislyak, fourth from left, in a meeting that was closed to the U.S. press but photos of which were released by the Russian Foreign Ministry, May 10, 2017, in the Oval office of the White House in Washington.

This show is starting to get old. “Comey better hope there are no tapes of our conversations.” After weeks, the president says, in effect, “Just kidding! There are no tapes.”

After years of being “a birther,” he suddenly says, “Obama is a citizen. Period. That’s it.” After heralding Trump University for years, he suddenly settles a lawsuit with the claimants for $26 million. After saying with certainty that Obama tapped his phones, we learn it is not true at all. After exalting the new health plan, he says later that it is mean. After denying meddling by the Russians, he says, “Why didn’t Obama take care of it?”

This pattern of childishness is disheartening. Stay tuned, there is more to come.
