Swearengin ignored Fresno streets for eight years
After eight years as the mayor of Fresno, one of Ashley Swearengin’s crowning achievements was to leave the infrastructure in complete chaos. I have driven the streets of this town for over 30 years, and it is now a pothole evasion course thanks to the former mayor who was so interested in downtown that the rest of the city fell into shambles, literally.
No wonder police and fire vehicles are in the shape they are, having to maneuver the obstacle course of broken streets to save broken lives and protect a community that is attempting to mend itself. Broken struts, flat tires and other assorted damages are directly related to the condition of the streets.
I can only sympathize with the current mayor, who has a uphill battle to overturn those eight years of neglect.
