Can America once again be a ‘civil’ society?

It is very concerning to find that we have become so distant from each other as to opinions, political parties and differences of all kinds.

It is important for all of us to remember it is allowed to opine without being verbally attacked for simply thinking of other alternatives. This open feeling refers to religious ideas, political choices, sexual preferences of all kinds, down to just being tolerant of your neighbors’ foibles who might not mow their lawn to your satisfaction.

Let us consciously try to be open to others without prejudice of any kind, be it racial, religious or political, and remain friendly despite our differences. That is the preferred civil society that has prevailed for over 200 years in the U.S. despite some obvious egregious mistakes at times.

Let us not forget our history and our loyalty to one another as citizens of an open and freedom-loving society. As a retired at-home mom, bookkeeper and substitute teacher, I’d prefer everyone to just be nice to one another. Thank you.
