America’s image tarnished by coarse discourse
Our elected officials, particularly the president, should exemplify the highest ideals that represent and formed our republic; yet these values, public discourse, civility and overall character are eroding rapidly.
Foreign leaders have been snubbed and jostled for photo ops, allies and established agreements ignored and disparaged, science relegated to Neanderthal status, and information transparency transformed into an elitist cabal.
How could we have allowed our image, honor and world leadership to be so impugned?
A select few will undoubtedly profit from this travesty, but Lady Liberty will no longer offer refuge to “the huddled masses, the tired, poor and homeless” and lift a lamp of promise either “inside or outside” the “Golden Door.”
