Maybe Trump can put more farriers back to work, too

There are about 77,000 coal miners in the United States. Their jobs are threatened because coal is dirty and less efficient than other sources of energy. There are 375,000 people in the United States who are employed in the solar industry. So, does it really make sense to jeopardize those 375,000 over the 77,000?

There are probably some people who shoe horses for a living and if we didn’t drive cars, more horses might be used as transportation. However, does anyone believe that we should ban cars so farriers can get more work? At some point logic and reason need to be employed when making public policy and wishful thinking and nostalgia have to be put aside.

We know President Trump doesn’t believe in climate change, but he made an economic argument for dropping out of the Paris climate accord. Somebody needs to explain to him that his economic argument doesn’t make any more sense than to deny climate change.
