Fresno Unified must help our students succeed
It seems every time I read the paper, our school district is in more trouble. As the parent of three students in Fresno Unified schools, I am concerned. The Bee recently reported that the California Department of Education is demanding that FUSD change its spending plan because the district used money incorrectly.
Specifically, our district spent money on police programs instead of spending resources on our students. Police programs will not help our children learn, but they will intimidate and scare our students.
Besides, the money was intended to help low-income students. The money was given to the district by the state to specifically help these students. It’s a shame the state had to intervene. Why don’t our school leaders do their jobs and spend the money as it’s intended? We shouldn’t need the state to tell school officials that they need to spend this money correctly.
Fresno Unified, please stay out of trouble and help our students succeed.
