We need the River West park and trail ASAP

I wish to compliment and thank Marek Warszawski for his excellent article on the proposed River West Eaton Trail Extension in the June 4 Fresno Bee.

Mayor Lee Brand, San Joaquin Conservancy Chair Andreas Borgeas and SJ Conservancy Board member Steve Brandau should be ashamed of their duplicity in professing support for expeditious development of the River West park and trail system, and then yielding to pressure from a few nearby homeowners by taking action that will delay – perhaps indefinitely – development of that park and trail.

The sophisticated and well-financed opposition to the park and trail development brings to mind Noam Chomsky’s title “The Prosperous Few and the Restless Many.” I suggest that it is time for us “restless many” to make our voices heard.

We need the River West park and trail, as quickly as possible. We are tired of waiting.
