Tame your ego and bring peace to your life

The letter “Social network is ‘pure poison’ ” by Linda Marie (April 22) is an accurate assessment of the evils of Facebook as basically the whole internet has become the devil’s playground. A recent report stated that one-third of all divorces are caused by people’s behavior on social media, but Mark Zuckerberg is not to blame – we are or should I say our egos are!

We’re living in an ego-infested, revenge seeking, gossip-speaking, God-denying, world with so much egotistical poison flowing through people’s veins that it seems normal to brag, judge, lie and lust online. It’s true that Facebook is a big promoter of the “look at me” attitude that is causing so much havoc in people’s lives, but it’s our choice to participate in the madness or not.

The ego is a great manipulator and a con artist. It uses social media to infect our hearts and minds causing an inner civil war for our attention and ultimately our soul’s destruction. Realize if you have a body, you have an ego. Hence it’s best to learn to tame your ego.

For your soul’s sake, tame the ego by bringing the light of Christ’s truths to the darkness of ego’s lies and have more peace in your life.
