Don’t be embarrassed to love Fresno

After all the recent negative headlines about Fresno, I felt compelled to write in to say how wonderful a few of our local organizations are.

The Salvation Army which provides our community with a family services program that hands out food to those in need as well as several youth groups for children that are available at no cost.

Fresno City College is a great place to further your education and also has many programs like EOPS (Extended Opportunity Programs and Services) and CARE (Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education) which are very beneficial to students like me.

The campus has many passionate instructors who love their jobs and set a good example for someone who is interested in following their footsteps. The city bus line FAX is making some amazing changes for all of us to get around our beautiful city more conveniently. Now it offers extended hours, too.

I hope in the future, when you are asked about Fresno, you can be proud of where you live instead of being embarrassed.
