State gas taxes will hurt businesses

Threats made to state Sen. Anthony Cannella, R-Ceres, in response to his crossing party lines to vote for the Senate Bill 1 gas tax are completely unacceptable, but are symptomatic of the frustration of having California’s one-party rule cynically underlined by Cannella. Had he voted against the measure, it would have been stopped in the Senate.

Nearly a half-billion dollars of pork to his district was exchanged for his deciding vote for a regressive tax (hardest on the poor), that will drive more businesses out of California. Our state is like a dysfunctional family that spends its money foolishly, then seeks more from community sources to pay for essentials.
