Schools should be bully free
Fresno Unified schools are considered “safe places” for undocumented students, but there is another issue causing students to feel unsafe at school. That issue is bullying.
It can have disastrous effects on those who experience it, witness it, or even participate in it. Bullied students tend to experience depression, anxiety, loss in activities they used to enjoy, and decreases in their GPA and test scores. Bullying can affect people so badly that they might even drop out of school.
School should be a safe place for all students, no matter what may set us apart from one another. Differences make us unique and being unique makes us special and being special makes us stand out.
Schools need to be bully free, so students will feel safe while they learn and succeed.
