Gorsuch’s confirmation will always be tainted
Neil Gorsuch has been confirmed. Where is the honor? For him, yes. For the nation, it is another matter.
A Supreme Court position is important enough that a two-thirds vote is reasonable. Regardless of how one feels about the filibuster, it has been time honored in the Senate.
Changing the rules mid-game is hardly acceptable, or surprising. After all, it is the same gang who refused to give a basic hearing to Merrick Garland, legally and morally appointed by President Obama. No matter his qualifications, Judge Gorsuch’s confirmation will always be tainted.
