Fresno State serves Valley and society at large

I congratulate Tim Sheehan for writing the article, “Fresno State’s Economic Impact: Nearly 10,000 jobs, $717 million in spending” (March 28). I am happy to see the positive outcomes that derive from our local California State University being acknowledged.

I am a Fresno State student and I strongly believe that education is essential to economic growth in the San Joaquin Valley.

To better explain, in my sociology course taught by Acebedo Gonzalez, we identified education as an important factor that opens doors to individuals and can help us reach the American Dream.

It is important to recognize that our local university serves our society at large.
