Trump learns governing is no piece of cake
One good thing that came out of the failed American Health Care Act is that we no longer have to watch Rep. David Valadao’s ads asking us to thank him for the now defunct bill.
There could be other positive results as well. For example, President Trump now seems open to working with Democrats. We’ll see. Rather than sit back and watch the Affordable Care Act “explode,” as he predicts, just maybe he could work with Democrats and moderate Republicans to improve the bill rather than repeal it.
Of course, he is already moving on to the next big thing, tax reform. I wonder how that will go?
Before he was elected, Trump thought running the government would be a piece of cake. He is finding out otherwise. As he tweeted, “who knew health care could be so complicated?” He may be expressing the same sentiment about tax reform next. I do wish him well
Unlike Republicans in 2008, whose stated goal was to keep Obama to one term, Democrats truly have America’s best interests at heart and will work with President Trump when his policies are seen as helping, rather than hurting the majority of hard working Americans. We’ll see.
