Letters to the Editor

Congressmen should refocus on water

The Letters to the Editor section has contained an abundance of anti-Rep. Devin Nunes letters concerning his actions at the national level. With the troubling national government – both parties – I’m sure he is in a constant state of re-evaluation or confusion.

Readers who have actually followed this man’s career and work ethic know what he is doing for our Valley. Of all concerns Valley residents face, the absolute No. 1 is water and the drought. It is no secret that state population, industry and ag water demands more than doubled with no increase in storage. That is political incompetence of both parties. Water storage is a main factor in the solution.

Nunes has shown us that our drought problem was a result of Mother Nature and man. It is unbelievable but at the beginning of this year, Sacramento was working on a bill to study the drought. Now we have a snow pack at 180 percent and no storage – criminal. Each reader has a responsibility to contact his or her congressman and demand a change in priorities.

Mine are water storage, roads and bridges, health, education and maybe high-speed rail. Also ask yourselves, “Why is our governor still in office?”
