You can buy that first home. I did.
The article “Millennials face tight market, high prices” by Kathy Orton (Feb. 26) captured my attention. As part of the latter half of the millennial population, I empathize with the challenges of this generation.
It was mentioned that affordable real estate has been scarce for millennials, which can be true to a certain extent. Understanding that dreams can be limitless and expectations can be high, one must prioritize.
I purchased my first home at 27 years old, while prices and interest were low, recognizing that this was my starter home and kept my “must-haves” to a minimum. If buying for a family, realize that this might not be your forever home, but a realistic home to live in and afford – while improving credit scores, paying off debts and saving for the next home. My experience wasn’t easy or ideal, but it definitely was attainable.
