I’m leaving Fresno for Clovis immediately

I am a resident of Fresno living near the Tower District. I have been the victim of theft two times in the last few months. The first time, someone walked up to my car parked in the garage and stole items from my trunk. The second time someone broke into my home, into my son’s playroom, and stole valuable items from our home.

I feel completely violated. When I tried to call the police for help, I was told I had to wait. Officers arrived 14 hours later! What is Fresno doing to ensure public safety? I hear all about the new mall and the Bus Rapid Transit, but what about adding more police officers to patrol communities and keep families safe?

As a single mother, I will be moving out of Fresno to Clovis immediately. I cannot jeopardize my child’s safety any longer. Shame on Mayor Ashley Swearengin’s administration for cutting police officers and making our city unsafe. Shame on City Hall for not making public safety its No. 1 priority!

I sincerely hope Lee Brand does a better job before Fresno turns into a giant ghetto – we are not that far away from it.
