Be thankful we live in nation’s most powerful state

Thanks to Joe Mathews for his well-thought-out article, “#Calexit is a bad idea that would destroy California.” I was very depressed when they announced that Donald Trump had been elected before all of California’s ballots had been counted.

I was seriously thinking about reaching out to the #Calexit people. After I read this article and I went to see the movie “Hacksaw Ridge,” I gave serious thought to what another civil war would do to the nation and California.

I especially appreciated, “So on this Thanksgiving weekend, let’s avoid rancor at the family table. Instead let’s give thanks for the United States, and for the fact that we’re its biggest, most powerful state, with plenty of weight to throw around Washington. America, for better and for worse, is California’s nation. Why would we ever surrender it?”

I hope the Yes California Independence Campaign reads his article and gives it serious thought.
