Teachers union shouldn’t offer lesson plans on Trump
The San Francisco City Public Schools teacher’s union offered an anti-Trump lesson plan.
This is simply outrageous. The teaching profession is a hugely important one filled with many great people. I have no problem with people being disappointed with the presidential election results. That’s just how they feel based on how they see things.
I do have a big problem with a teachers union in our public school system circulating and advocating a lesson plan that indoctrinates students that our president-elect is racist and sexist. And telling students that they don’t have to accept the election results. This is not its place.
Evidently, the union has lost sight of the fact that teachers are employed by the taxpaying public to provide instruction in literacy, numeracy, arts, sciences, vocational training, etc. They have plenty to do. It is outrageous that the union believes it has the right to teach their own personal political bias let alone to advocate students to defy the rule of law.
Any teacher that takes the bait and engages in this clearly inappropriate behavior violates his or her professional ethics and abuses a fiduciary duty to their students. They should be relieved of their teaching credentials. The union needs to be sanctioned.
