Schools should step up their discipline

I am concerned about discipline in schools. In my school, students are extremely disruptive in class by talking to their friends or arguing with the teacher. It stops everyone from learning and their punishment is not strict enough.

The problem with this is that the studentsdistract the class again the next day because they are not getting clear consequences for their actions. One of the biggest problems is that students are not being expelled or suspended anymore. Even if they are suspended, they just come back the next day.

I agree that some students just need to be talked to. But if they keep causing problems like fights, then the school can’t ignore that and they need to give that student a consequence. Students realize that they won’t get severe punishments, so they just continue causing problems.

Their behavior makes others, who are trying to learn, uncomfortable, and it can cause bullying. Districts need to step up their discipline policies so schools feel like a safe learning environment.
