No protesting; we need unity now
To the demonstrators: No, no, no. This is not the American way. The time for action was before the election.
To President Obama: Kudos for beginning a peaceful transition.
To those voters who let their personal frustrations decide the nation’s fate: Shame.
To those who did not vote: everlasting shame.
To those Republican Party leaders who vacillated with on and off support of this callous, vulgar, unqualified man thereby putting party before country: There is no condemnation strong enough for you. This was more than a political difference.
From his own mouth and actions of indisputable proof he told us what we would be getting from him. Our only hope is that he backtracks on this as he did so often in the campaign. May he and those party leaders supporting him rise to the responsibility of the position.
To the rest of us: In recognition of the need for unity we must remember that we salute the office, not the man. We must assume our responsibility to be political activist more forcefully than ever before. The fate of the world demands it.
In the words of Hillary Clinton: “Never stop believing that fighting for what is right is worth it.”
