Election’s over: Go out and be Americans
This election has shown us how out of touch our leaders in Washington, D.C., have been. By ignoring the voice of the working class for so long, we have elected a political outsider as our new president. Yes, the campaign was divisive on both sides. It was mud slinging at its finest, a throwback to when Thomas Jefferson and John Adams had their testy contest.
The election is over. Half the country is happy and half the country is not. This is our chance to come together and show the world why America is the greatest nation on earth. We pride ourselves on our ideals of liberty and diversity of thoughts and opinions. We are a nation of all creeds, colors and religions. Our diversity is our strength and it must endure.
I challenge us all to go out and be an American. Hold the door open for someone. Help someone with his or her groceries. Let’s take our kids to the park and play again. Show the world what American exceptionalism is.
We are stronger when we are united. More than ever, our president will need our support and prayers. Let’s come together and show the world who we are.
