Lessons for news media, politicians
In this 2016 presidential election, the people have spoken. We’re tired of politics as usual. We’re tired of politicians promising us perks they know they can’t deliver. We’re tired of the mainstream media lying to us by slanting the news to fit their own agenda.
In this election, career politicians failed to recognize this weariness in the American people. They assumed it was still business as usual in the political arena. Smug in their own self-assured and conceited cocoon, they assumed an outsider didn’t have a chance against a learned and seasoned politician.
They were wrong – both influential Republicans and Democrats. Even without the support of some important and well-known members of his own party, Trump still won the presidential election.
Speaking of the news media, every poll taken by well-known broadcast organizations – except Fox News – showed that Hillary Clinton would be the next president. The Fox News poll indicated that Donald Trump could win the election. And he did.
Politicians, quit lying to us by promising us things you have no intention of delivering. News media, quit assuming we will believe anything you say.
Learn this lesson well, and it will be good for our country.
