Thanks, judge and prosecutor: Child rapist gets 1,503 years

I want to thank Brittany Castanos for her article (Oct. 22) about sexual abuse. Her article was solid and believable.

I was abused at ages 3 1/2, 7, 12 and 32. The last time was the last time. Being devalued is most difficult to over come, but never to be forgotten. Today, I am in my 70s. You never forget.

I was able to talk to my daughter about these issues without scaring her. She has never had to suffer from these injustices, to which many of her friends have fallen victim.

So thank you to people like Fresno County prosecutor Nicole Galstan and Judge Edward Sarkisian Jr. for sentencing a man to 1,503 years in prison for raping his teenage daughter over and over. Then, Judge John C. McKeon in Montana sentenced a father for incest with his 12-year-old daughter to 60 days in jail. That is not only devaluing that young woman’s self worth, it is down right disgusting.

Sexual harassment is not only a woman’s problem, but also young men.

“Injustice toward one is an injustice toward all,” said Anita Hill.
