Eric Payne is State Center’s first millennial trustee

Eric Payne, Trustee for Area 2 of the State Center Community College District (SCCCD) is a proven tireless advocate for increased student access and success, greater educational opportunities in southwest Fresno and state-of-the-art educational facilities and technologies.

In 2012, Eric became the first elected, millennial trustee in the history of SCCCD, and one of a small number of elected, millennial trustees on governing boards in higher education. He also serves on local, regional, state and national trustee committees, boards and organizations.

Eric does his homework to fully understand district issues and he understands the board’s stewardship role over the use of public funds to provide high quality educational programs and services.

Electing Eric Payne will ensure that the board’s decision-making and dialogue includes the perspective of an experienced, millennial trustee who understands the needs and expectations of traditional age, millennial and older students.

The community deserves a trustee who is responsive and sincere when dealing with students, community members, faculty and staff. Payne is that person. He will continue to advocate for the citizens of Area 2 and the entire district.

Deborah G. Blue and Stan R. Arterberry, chancellors emeriti, SCCCD and West Valley Mission Community College District, Litchfield, Arizona,
