Latino leaders should get racial chip off their shoulders

I’m Mexican. I’m the fifth generation of Mexicans who are proud to call this country home. First, let me say I’m American-Mexican. I’m proud of my heritage, but it’s this country that has given us every opportunity it had to offer, not Mexico.

Latino leaders were upset with Gov. Mike Pence because of his “Mexican thing” remark. I’m wondering what Pence could have said that wouldn’t have been offensive to these leaders. Tim Kaine did bring up the Mexican thing in the vice presidential debate. There’s not very much else it could be called!

My family has always voted Democrat for no other reason than that is what they’ve always done. They are no better off for it.

It’s time for our so-called leaders to stop being the Washington politician, get the racial chip off their shoulders and stop the political nit picking. Start helping the people they supposedly care so much about.
