Perea: Where are your policy statements?

As a Fresnan, I was perturbed by the absence of any comprehensive set of stances on Fresno County Supervisor Henry Perea’s mayoral campaign website.

By contrast, Fresno City Councilman Lee Brand has his issues thoughtfully laid out on his website for all to see. It is worrisome that such a basic campaign component as a platform is absent from Perea’s website. General statements like “Stop Slumlords” as part of Perea’s vision are not helpful in weighing his comprehensive policy prescriptions against Brand.

With a matter of weeks remaining in the election, I am considering voting for Brand and would urge Fresnans to explore this issue as well. It’s clear Brand is taking his platform seriously. Perea, from all appearances, is riding on the strength of his endorsements. Unfortunately, endorsements won’t mend community-police relations, homelessness, revitalize downtown, or secure economic possibility for Fresno.

I want to see policies from Perea and thus far, I am unimpressed.
