Women don’t deserve extra sick leave
To all the women’s rights activists out there, I would just like to say you can’t expect equality by asking for gender-specific accommodations.
Yes, women do go through a natural process once a month that may put them through some discomfort, but that doesn’t go to say that men don’t have their own health issues and aches and pains as well. We need to take a step back and realize that there are men and women out there with detrimental health conditions who deal with body aches and disabilities on a day to day basis and yet they don’t get any special treatment.
Many women would also say that they have little effects from their menstrual periods, but if we granted the option to give time off, how could you judge who is abusing it? Unless there is a way to judge pain from one person to the next, it is impossible to equalize a period cramp over anything else someone else may be experiencing.
Sick days are granted to us already for the days we may not be able to go to work. Nothing is wrong with taking one of those sick days during your time of the month.
