Madness fanatics use kids as pawns
Please stop “Stop the Madness” madness!
I am aware of the challenges the Clovis Unified School District faces, my concern and empathy continues to deepen for my colleagues, for students and for parents.
However, I am particularly concerned about parents who use their children as political pawns in incendiary discourse at board meetings and uninformed rants on social media. One mother spoke at the last board meeting about her daughter’s experience in a school locker room and claimed that, “While everyone is denying that this happened, nobody is actually reaching out to my daughter.”
Yet, after her statement, a board member officially contradicted her statement, noting multiple attempts at contact with no response. In fact, the student is still enrolled and an accommodation has been made – the situation had been addressed!
Stop the Madness fanatics delete critical information and continue to post examples of flagrant ignorance about Common Core. On Facebook, another mother claimed that she had great concerns about a story in her child’s textbook but didn’t bother to read it – she just didn’t like the title.
The war cries of a small, vocal group of misguided parents continue to propagate propaganda in the name of “protectiveness” and “patriotism.” What a charade!
