Parents, not students, are Clovis’ problem

There are a few parents in the Clovis Unified School District who are doing a disservice to the community, their own children and particularly children who are struggling with their sexual identity. They have created a tempest in a teapot by portraying innocent children as sexual predators just because they want to live their lives in a manner suited to their personal desires. I suggest that these parents are the real problem.

Apparently they have taught their own children that the human body is something to be feared, rather than the person within that body. I can’t even imagine that a transgender child would be any threat to anyone. Most likely he or she is the one who is in the most danger in any locker room or restroom.

Transgender children did not choose to identify with a different sex any more than gays or heterosexuals chose the way they are. These Clovis parents need to learn about tolerance, and try teaching their children that the only real value in other people is in their character, not what is between their legs. Direct your outrage against bullies, not the ones who are being bullied.
