Veteran gets delayed thanks in the drive-through

My faith in humanity has been restored.

My wife and I were in line at the Jack in the Box drive through at Herndon and Fowler avenues in Clovis on Sept. 9 at around 6 p.m. When we approached the pay window, the clerk advised us that the car in front of us had paid for our order. Wow, what a surprise.

I’m a retired Army lieutenant colonel of 24 years, and it was so appreciated. I served in Vietnam, and the support wasn’t there for the returning veterans.

The car was a black SUV. So I just wanted to say “Thank you” to whoever was in that car. My wife and I decided right then to “pay it forward,” so we paid for the car behind us.

What a pleasant and wonderful gesture to be blessed in that way. Many thanks. God bless you.
