Dog House Grill respects allergic kids, unlike greedy Mylan
There has been so much in the news lately about peanut allergies, kids and EpiPens, and I appreciate The Bee’s coverage of this important topic.
My 11-year-old son has a severe peanut allergy. I want to highlight one aspect of the peanut allergy issue that is a positive angle on this life-threatening condition: Local restaurants that are super supportive of those of us parents simply trying to find safe places for our allergic kids to eat.
At home, we can control most of the dangerous elements of a meal, but eating out can be like walking through a minefield. Tonight we had a fantastic experience at Dog House Grill. The manager on duty was sensitive to our plight, knew all ingredients on the menu, and guided us on what was safe to order.
Thank you to restaurants like this one and others that work hard to help families like ours. In contrast to corporations like Mylan, there are plenty of good corporate citizens taking those extra steps to help out. It means a lot, believe me. Here’s to even more of them joining the bandwagon.
