The Bee Editorial Board’s endorsements for key races in the March primary | Opinion
The Fresno Bee Editorial Board has a selection of endorsements for the March 5 primary election. Here is the list of those picks with links to the online editorials.
The Editorial Board offers its endorsements in races it considers to be contested. Other races involve incumbents against first-time opponents or those with low name recognition and who have, in the board’s view, little chance of winning.
To come to its recommendations, the Editorial Board conducted online interviews with candidates. Any candidate who chose not to participate did not earn an endorsement.
The Editorial Board is separate from the newsroom, and news staff did not participate in interviews or determine endorsements. The Editorial Board consists of Bee Opinion Editor Tad Weber; Juan Esparza Loera, editor of the bilingual publication, Vida en el Valle; and Vida reporter Maria Ortiz Briones.
Also assisting the Editorial Board with interviews were members of the board’s community advisory panel, a group of local residents with strong ties to the community. Taking part were Pauline Sahakian, Des Haus and Mike Betts.
