Mary Wallace is Bee’s caption contest winner
Turns out, many of you did empathize with this poor voter on a psychiatrist’s couch in last week’s SW Parra editorial cartoon. We say that because of the many entries submitted in the Beat Our Caption contest.
A drum roll, please.
The winner is Mary Wallace, who submitted this: “Anxiety about an existential threat is completely normal. 100% of Americans are experiencing it now.”
She gets bragging rights and a copy of Parra’s “Pinot Envy: Sharing some wine, laughs & a smile.” The book, if you haven’t seen it, features 33 illustrations of humorous wine-related observations with more than 100 clever and funny comments.
In addition, there were so many witty and imaginative entries that we decided to honor the best of the rest. Sorry, no prizes, but mini bragging rights are worth something, right?
Honorable mention:
“Close your eyes and try to focus ahead on November 9th, 10th ...”
– Tom Hernandez
“No. Ben Gozzi starred in ‘Married to the Mob.’ ”
– John Wallace
“In the future you will look back on this election and laugh, then cry and most likely end up on some psychiatrist’s couch.”
– Scott Hays
We’ll do it again this week. Watch for Parra’s editorial cartoon when it appears Friday on fresnobee.com.
