‘America’s drunkest city’ and a 4 a.m. last call for drinks: SW Parra opinion cartoon
The proposal that Fresno be part of the pilot project to extend the last-call deadline when alcoholic drinks could be served at bars, nightclubs and restaurants to 4 a.m. is the subject of this week’s opinion cartoon by SW Parra.
Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer asked the author of Senate Bill 930 to remove the city from the project. And several councilmembers opposed the bill, remembering that at one time Fresno was called “America’s drunkest city” by a national magazine.
