The debate over California’s Proposition 47, which reduced certain felonies to misdemeanor crimes, is the subject of this week’s opinion cartoon by SW Parra.

The 2014 measure was approved by 60% of Californians, but since then it has come under intense law-enforcement criticism for allowing criminals to act with impunity.

Fresno’s Republican Assemblyman Jim Patterson has co-authored a bill to put Prop. 47 before voters again, asking whether it should be repealed.
