Welfare-to-war plan

Jim Doyle makes an interesting case for universal military service in his May 24th Valley Voices commentary.

However the universal enslavement of the nation’s young is not possible because they can now vote, unlike previous generations. Rather than requiring young people of worth to sacrifice, why not put those in prison on the front lines or round up the gang bangers and other no-accounts of society?

On welfare? To the front lines!

The voluntary military is the best that’s ever been. It’s just a shame that it and those who comprise it are so badly utilized. Maybe this nation should start “drafting” its leaders. We might get some better ones than the ones who currently run for office.
