Pacific weather system brings quick hit of rain and cooler temperatures to Fresno

weather update

A slight passing drizzle through Fresno late Sunday morning is about all the region can expect in terms of rain from a front off the California coast, according to the National Weather Service in Hanford.

But the system is bringing temperatures down to normal for mid- to late October.

An offshore weather front was bringing temperatures down in the central San Joaquin Valley on Sunday.

Meteorologist Antoinette Serrato said there was “not a high chance” of rain Sunday night or Monday, and it’s much more likely that any precipitation will move north of Fresno to Madera, Merced and Mariposa.

Along with the cooler temperatures, Serrato said to expect stronger winds in the region, with breezes from 5 to 10 mph and gusts to 15 mph.

Fresno’s high Sunday was expected to be 75 degrees, with an overnight low of 59 and a high Monday of 75.
