Arambulas show amicable face amid divorce agreement outside Fresno courthouse

Assemblymember Joaquin Arambula, D-Fresno, answered questions Friday outside the B.F. Sisk Courthouse following the latest hearing in his divorce proceedings.

He was accompanied by his estranged wife, Elizabeth, and both of their lawyers, who said the two started the divorce proceedings with headbutting but are now in “a better place.”

They came to a temporary agreement on financial support for Elizabeth Arambula, and Joaquin Arambula will be allowed to see their children.

“I‘m grateful for the opportunity to be able to see my daughters this weekend,” Joaquin Arambula said outside the courthouse. “My north star has always been (to be) able to access my daughters and to keep our family whole. I’m looking forward to that.”

He said he was not concerned about how the divorce and news coverage may affect his run for the Fresno City Council seat for District 1, saying “politics be damned.”

The primary election is June 2.
