UPDATE: Newsom pledges billions to overhaul state mental health

Gov. Gavin Newsom visited Fresno on Thursday to support children’s mental health programs.

In announcing the visit, the governor’s office noted that “youth nationwide are reporting increased symptoms of depression and anxiety at record rates and are considering or attempting suicide at historic levels.”

The governor announced a new program aimed at curbing the trend.
