This presidential candidate will be the first to visit Fresno during 2020 campaign
Julián Castro will be the first 2020 presidential candidate to visit Fresno, where he will give the keynote speech at a Fresno County Democratic Party fundraiser on Friday evening.
Castro, who served as the secretary of Housing and Urban Development during the Obama administration, is originally from San Antonio, Texas. So far, no other Democratic candidate has made a stop in Fresno. Beto O’Rourke earlier this week visited Yosemite National Park and stopped in Modesto.
Newly elected local Democrats will be recognized at the Friday event.
Michael Evans, the chair of the Fresno County Democratic Party, said Castro has an impressive resume and track record of public service. In a news release, the local party says Castro is expected to speak in Fresno about “his vision for a more inclusive and prosperous nation, one where every American can live up to the promise of their potential.“
The Friday fundraiser is at 5:30 p.m. at Pardini’s at Shaw and Van Ness avenues. For more information, including sponsorships and tickets, contact the Fresno County Democratic Party at 559-495-0606 or fresnocountydemocrats@yahoo.com.
