Sailors on Russian frigate fired warning shots at a yacht in the Channel
LONDON - Sailors on board a Russian frigate fired warning shots at a civilian yacht in the Channel that came near it on Tuesday, a source familiar with the incident said.
Britain's Ministry of Defence did not immediately have a comment.
The incident involved the Russian frigate Admiral Grigorovich, the source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said.
On Sunday, British commandos boarded and intercepted a sanctioned Russian shadow fleet oil tanker in the Channel, leading for the first time an operation to disrupt the oil revenue that helps fund Russia's war in Ukraine.
In a separate release, published on Monday, the Navy said two British vessels had shadowed the Admiral Grigorovich in the Channel, west of Brest in France.
