Video was circulated of a woman being hoisted in the air by three people on a platform at Ponte do Esqueleto, known as the Skeleton Bridge, in Limeira in south-eastern Sao Paulo.

After she was released from the platform 120 feet above the ground, shouts of "guys, the rope," could be heard from bystanders. Videos of the incident have now been viewed millions of times on social media.

In a statement to Newsweek on Sunday, São Paulo Public Security Secretariat said that six people were taken in for questioning by police in Limeira after her death was confirmed at the scene..

It said, according to a translation, that three men aged 27, 32 and 42, "were arrested for homicide with eventual intent after the death of a 21-year-old woman during an activity on the Skeleton Bridge Trail, in Limeira on Saturday."

The statement did not name the deceased, but Brazilian newspaper O Globo said she was Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas.
