LONDON - British Labour lawmaker Josh Simons on Thursday said he would resign from his seat in parliament.

The resignation paves the way for Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham, seen as a potential challenger to Prime Minster Keir Starmer, to try to win the parliamentary seat he needs to then make a formal bid to become prime minister.
