Suspected Boat Explosion Hospitalizes Over a Dozen in Miami Beach
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue on Saturday responded to a possible boatexplosion at Haulover Sandbar near North Miami, with over a dozen people sent to hospital for treatment.
Over 25 rescue units responded to the scene after receiving a call at around 12:50 p.m. ET. First responders found multiple people injured, later confirming that 15 people were taken to a local hospital, according to ABC News. Authorities could not confirm the condition of the victims, nor the nature of their injuries.
Authorities were also not able to confirm if the incident was indeed the result of a boat explosion, but dispatch audio on Broadcastify.com mentioned multiple burn victims, some of whom were in the water and rescued by fire-crew lifeboats, the Miami Herald reported. An air-rescue unit was also deployed.
