James Comey Indicted Again by Trump's DOJ: Report
Former FBI Director James Comey has been indicted for a second time by the Justice Department under President Donald Trump, two people familiar with the case told CNN.
The move revives a prosecution effort that had collapsed late last year and underscores Trump's longstanding push to see political adversaries face criminal charges. The specific charges were not immediately disclosed. Comey, a vocal Trump critic since his 2017 firing, was previously accused of lying to Congress, but that case was thrown out over issues with the prosecutor's appointment.
The renewed effort appears driven by acting Attorney General Todd Blanche amid heightened White House pressure, CNN reported.
Also on Tuesday, a federal judge allowed a wrongful termination lawsuit brought by Maurene Comey, a former federal prosecutor and the daughter of James Comey, to move forward in federal court, rejecting claims that the firing under President Trump’s “executive power” should be handled by an executive branch agency.
